Every race had a soul mate, even humans though they couldn't sense them. Vampires and witches can find their mates by smell once they reach maturity, around 6-8. Werewolves aren't able to find their mate until they've both had their first shift. When you meet your mate it was like everything fit into place. Your souls intertwine. You fall in love immediately. Rejection was formal and it had the potential to kill. It wasn't against the supernatural law to reject your mate but it was frowned upon. One could not rule their coven/pack with someone who was not their mate unless the council approved. When a supernatural found their mate eventually they would claim them and when they have sex it seals the bond. This statement enticed blushes all the way around the table. Vampires and werewolves marked their mate with a bite, right where your neck meets your shoulder. A witch left a tattoo in the same spot on their mate.
The last thing Amy and Thomas shared was about hybrids. Hybrids were supernaturals born from parents from two different races. It was near impossible to get pregnant with a supernatural that wasn't your mate, and even harder to deliver a healthy baby in that case. Hybrids were rare but not unheard of, most matings were between the same race. The hybrids themselves were a wild card when they survived the womb. Whichever gene was strongest is usually the race the hybrid would conform too. No hybrid took all qualities from both races but would take a few of each, or in rare circumstances none. Those would be basically an immortal human. Some hybrids only healed fast. Others were only immortal. It was always a toss up and heavily depended on how strong the parents were.
Once supernatural females quit aging it was impossible for them to get pregnant. Which explained why supernaturals hadn't over taken the planet. The circumstance to have children and the time frame was very difficult.
Amy and Thomas gave me so much information my head hurt. But I thanked them for telling me. I wanted to ask about Michael, Brian, Brie, and all the others but remembered that they wouldn't be able to share that. So I told them I had enough information for the night and wanted to put it on the back burner and enjoy the rest of the day with them. Crazy as that sounds that what I really wanted and that's exactly what we did.
We went out on the town. We ate and shopped and just had a wonderful time. By the end of the day I was whipped. I fell asleep in Thomas's car on the ride home. He carried me to my room but I woke up when he dropped me on my bed. Startled I glared and threw a pillow at him. He laughed as he and Amy left my room. I settled down and went straight to bed with a smile on my face. Crazy I know, but for once I felt like I belonged and the trust they'd shown to me made my heart swell. I know it was crazy to even believe them, but what can you do when you're shown undeniable proof? So I just accepted it and let things settle back to normal. I just wondered where exactly I fit into all of this. Somehow I was surrounded with supernaturals.
When I woke up the next day I felt refreshed. You'd think someone in my shoes would be a wreck. But learning all that I did just seemed to put puzzle pieces into place for me. I think subconsciously I knew something was up. Hard to believe my only real friend growing up was a vampire though and that I had unconsciously surrounded myself with supernatural beings. I laughed at myself, what a coincidence.
I got ready for the day and went down to eat breakfast with Amy and Thomas. They both seemed rather awkward. I inconspicuously tried to look to see if Thomas or Amy were marked, neither were but Amy caught me looking and blushed. I quickly turned to Thomas to make conversation.
"So what's up with your locket anyway? You know all of our secrets now so I feel like it's only fair you share." Thomas teased.
I sighed. I really didn't know much about my locket. The dreams, which both of them knew a little about. But I had never revealed the new information I had learned. Before I kept it to myself because I felt crazy. But hey, I'm sitting down for breakfast with a witch and vampire, what did I have to lose?
"Well, you both know about my dream right?" I questioned and they both nodded. "Well recently I've had a little more clarity. The woman is my mother, her name is Amiah. I think man is my father and his name might be Orion. They gave me the necklace to protect myself. Said only to take it off when I knew I was safe. I think they might've been killed that night."
