After asking around, Chloe managed to find Zane's address. She arrived at his door and rang the doorbell. When I saw Chloe on the security cameras, I chose to ignore her. After all, Chloe always brought up the past whenever we met.

"I'm here to meet Zane Huxham. May I know if he's in?" Chloe asked politely.

Hearing that, I was surprised. My gaze fell on Zane.

Zane said nonchalantly, "Look at the difference in our statuses. Do you think I'm someone she can meet whenever she wants?"

When I heard that, I finally recalled that Zane had met Chloe several times. However, Chloe had been very difficult during those encounters, and Zane never had a good impression of her. It was understandable that Zane didn't want to meet Chloe.

I raised my brows and said, "You're right."

Zane called security and instructed, "Tell her I'm not home."

The security said to Chloe, "I'm sorry, but Mr. Huxham went out with his daughter this morning."

But Chloe didn't believe what the security guard said. She replied, "Tell him that I just want to talk to him about Annalise."

In response, the security said, "But Mr. Huxham really isn't home."

Zane and I hadn't been together for very long, but it was long enough to understand the kind of person I am. In response, Zane got up and said, "Sure. I'll meet her, then."

Meanwhile, I stayed in the room and watched the security footage.

Zane remained unfazed as he replied, "I don't agree with that."

"Don't be so quick to refute me! How long have you known her? And guess how long have I lived with her? I must know Annalise better than you, don't you think?" Chloe said in an all-knowing tone.

Zane quietly watched as Chloe bad-mouthed Annalise in an attempt to break up their relationship.

In response, Zane nodded and said, "You're right."

Chloe continued, "You know Annalise is from a single-parent household, right?"

"Yes."

Zane hadn't expected Chloe to say so much only to end on that note. He felt slightly disappointed.

"And?"
