Chloe said disdainfully, "Annalise's father didn't pass away. Instead, he saw through Annalise and her mother's true colors. He realized how terrible their characters were, and every day spent with them was torture for him. That's why he abandoned them."

Chloe believed that since Steven's annual income was high, Annalise must have been living a life of luxury even if Steven had only given her a small allowance.

Initially, Chloe had been worried that Zane might not believe her claims. But now that Annalise had shown up and demanded proof, she felt bold. She thought that if Steven came and exposed Annalise with her expenses, Zane would finally know how reckless Annalise was with money!

Chloe didn't understand why Annalise was making a fuss about the title. She silently grumbled about how fussy Annalise was, but she didn't say anything about it.

She replied, "You used to be Steven's wife. Even if he didn't splurge on you, he must have treated you fairly."
