"Really, I was just wondering what his name was" Lena says more calm, shrugging her shoulders trying to seem like it was no big deal. Clair wasn't buying it though, and now it was just the two of them in the room. Meaning she was going to get her questions answered, knowing her grandchild will only confirm her thoughts.
"So, you're telling me that you never met Beta Wilder? And the fact having your cousin, who you are very close to I might add. Will be part of the same pack as you, doesn't make you a little happy or excited?" She asks eyeing her speciously.
"No-Yes! Wait, what did you just say?" Lena stumbles over her words as her nana words finally sink in.
"Oh, my sweet grandchild" Clair beams smiling at Lena, who was looking a little pale. "I might be an old lady, but I know mates when I see them. And Child, in all my years I never seen Alpha Shaw react and protect someone like that before" She says knowingly. Lena knew she needed to make up a reason why he might have acted that way, but when she went to speak her nana put her hand up.
"Don't you dear think about lying to your nana again either. Don't worry I won't say anything. It's not my place, and I think this needs to be handle by the both of you" She tells her sincerely.
"I don't know what to do about it nana" Lena finally admits feeling defeated. "But I will say, at first I wasn't crazy about the idea. Then once I had time to think about it, and get to know Damian. I couldn't ask for a better mate, even if the goddess offered" Lena explains feeling like a huge weight has been lifted off her shoulder.
"I'm happy to hear that my dear child, and I can't wait for you to tell me all about it. But for now, I need you to get some rest" Clair tells her before leaning over placing a kiss on her forehead.
"Wait one question" Lena says stopping her nana before she leaves.
"Yes dear?" Clair answers facing her grandchild happily.
He continued to pace his bedroom floor where he has been the past three days. He hasn't even stepped out of his room to eat. He knew if he saw his Beta with his mate. it would only anger him that he couldn't be with his own. He was happy for his Beta to finally have found his other half, but it was what caused this whole train reaction. Damian didn't blame Ashton for how he acted, and understood his instinct's when it comes to a mate. It was just too hard for him to face them without bring up that day, and how he failed to protect his own mate. At least he couldn't be around them till his own mate was safe in his arms.
Just about to call it a night, knowing he needed to try to get some sleep. The ringing of his phone had him snapping out of his miserable thinking. Not wasting anytime, he snatches the phone up from his dresser not bothering to see who was calling.
"Speak" He orders frustrated.
As soon as Lena heard Damien's voice on the other side of the phone, butterflies exploded in her stomach. Even though he sounded slightly irritated, Lena was still just as happy to hear his voice knowing he was safe.
