Chapter 23
The dream was so beautiful that when Ethan woke up and saw a white room and his mother standing by the bedside, there was an unmistakable look of loss in his eyes.
Madam Scott finally let go of the heart she mentioned when she saw Ethan finally woke up
“What were you doing? Running to such a far place, locking yourself in a room and getting drunk. Do you know how worried your dad and I were because we couldn’t reach you on the phone?”
She said, with tears welling up in her eyes, “I only have you as my son, do you know how scared I was when I pushed open the door and couldn’t wake you up no matter how much I called? Do you know how worried I was when the doctor told me that your gastric bleeding was severe and there could be a life–threatening situation if we delayed going to the hospital? Ethan, even if you don’t consider yourself, can you please consider me?”
Ethan remained silent and, after a long time, he finally spoke in a low voice, saying, “I’m sorry.”
“Ethan, come home with us, if you don’t want to marry Sophia, then we won’t marry her either. Please stop using your own body to provoke us, okay?” He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, he just weakly nodded.
What is the point of staying any longer?
Evelyn would not forgive him Anymore
Ethan lay weakly in bed, watching as the droplets fall one by one. There was only a small amount of medicine left in the drip Madam Scott had consulted the doctor and confirmed that Ethan’s condition was stable now. Once the drip was finished, they could proceed with the transfer procedures.
After leaving Palmhollow this time, perhaps for a long time to come, he would never come back again.
I don’t know if Evelyn would be happy when she found out about this news.
He would not bother her anymore.
Evelyn only found out about Ethan’s hospitalization due to alcohol–induced gastric bleeding after he had been transferred back to Kingstead. When she heard the news, she paused for a moment.
Looking at the message David sent on her phone, Evelyn remained silent for a while before asking. “Is he okay now?”
“There was nothing major, just needed to rest more.”
David’s reply came quickly, and Evelyn finally felt relieved, “Then please ask David to remind him to rest more often.”
Without replying, I looked at the few words sent over, “Ms. Hart, rest assured.
But since then, Evelyn has not received any messages from Ethan.
At the end of the month, the school held a welcome party, and every club performed a program. The Theater Club did too. Do you want to sign up and participate?
“Is it a play? I have never formally acted in a play before. In the past, I only helped out with miscellanous tasks for them programs and occasionally played a few minor roles. I’m not sure if I would be capable of it.” Evelyn did not directly accept Gabriel’s invitation
Most of the members in Theater Club had never acted in a play before when they joined. They started from scratch, learning little by little. Evie, don’t be afraid, I will be with you.
“And the play will have auditions, so you can give it a try first. If It really doesn’t suit you, then consider it as preparation for the next opportunity.” Upon hearing his last words, Evelyn finally made a decision.
