Jessica watched his practiced movements and fell into a brief silence.

“Jessi, are you feeling better?” Simon asked with concern as he walked in.

“Much better. So, you finally found time for me?”

Jessica couldn’t help but tease him when she saw it was Simon.

“Yep, finished up and came right over with some good news,” Simon said.

He casually pulled up a chair beside her, opened his briefcase, and handed her a document.

“What’s this?” Jessica asked, puzzled.

“Here’s the divorce decree,” Simon said. “Congratulations, Jessi. You’re officially single again.”

“Wait, we won? Already?”

Jessica was genuinely stunned, hastily flipping through the documents as she asked.

“Who’s the big shot you found to make this happen? That was amazing! You have to introduce me later. Lwant to thank them in person.”

She still remembered Simon mentioning yesterday that he was going to pull some strings.

Simon shook his head. “It wasn’t me.”

“Not you?” Jessica asked, taken aback.

“Yeah, it was Brian. He agreed to the divorce on his own and even contacted the court himself. That’s why the decree came through so fast.”

Simon had suspected yesterday that Brian was just putting on a show, but after getting the call from the court today, he realized the man was dead serious.
