Chapter 242
Jacob wanted to nod, but suddenly remembered something and said, “Of course I understand, but Dad, I’m still so sad. Can you compensate me?” He batted his eyes at Brian pitifully.
Brian saw through his little trick at once but didn’t mind indulging him this time. “Alright, what compensation do you want?”
Jacob’s eyes lit up. “I want to play games freely all day and eat snacks all day, with no one to stop
Brian frowned slightly.
me.”
Jacob quickly grabbed Brian’s hand and pleaded, “Dad, you just promised! Don’t go back on your word. And the vacation is so long–just one day of fun. I promise I’ll study hard after today. Please, Daddy.”
Brian wavered. With such a long vacation, letting Jacob indulge for one day wouldn’t hurt, so he agreed. “Fine, you can do as you like at home
tomorrow.”
“Yay!” Jacob jumped up happily.
Seeing Jacob regain his energy, Brian felt more certain he’d made the right decision.
The next morning, before leaving for work after breakfast, Brian thought of his promise to Jacob and specifically told Sylvie to fulfill any of Jacob’s requests that day.
Jacob was thrilled. As soon as Brian left, he picked up his phone and started gaming recklessly, ordering Sylvie to bring him snacks. “Sylvie, get me a popsicle, a drumstick, and a Coke.”
“Maybe skip the popsicle? You’ve already had two–you’ll get a stomachache,” Sylvie said worriedly.
“I can handle more. Go get them–Dad said I could,” Jacob insisted. He felt perfectly healthy and didn’t believe one extra popsicle would make him sick.
Hearing it was Brian’s wish, Sylvie could only glance at him worriedly before turning to fetch the snacks.
When she returned, Jacob had just finished a game. His eyes were sore from staring at the screen, so he rubbed them.
Sylvie tried again. “Mr. Atkinson, you’ve played all morning. Why not rest? I’ll make lunch, and you can play after eating.”
“No,” Jacob refused firmly, starting a new game. “I’m not having lunch. I want fried chicken, fries, pizza…” He demanded many kinds of fried foods.
Sylvie frowned. “Snacks aren’t a meal.”
“I’m not doing this every day! Can you stop nagging? Dad said it’s okay,” Jacob snapped. Seeing Sylvie still refusing, he threatened, “If you don’t buy them, I’ll call Dad and say you’re disobeying him. Remember what he said this morning?”
Sylvie sighed, recalling Brian’s instructions. “Fine, but don’t overdo it. Fried food isn’t good for you.”
“Stop lecturing! It’s just one day–let me enjoy it,” Jacob grumbled. He’d studied so hard and successfully entered a good primary school; he deserved to
relax.
Convincing himself, he shooed Sylvie away, grabbed a bag of spicy Cheetos, and started eating them with his popsicle.
Jacob stuck out his tongue from the heat but refused to stop. He’d had these snacks before, but never so freely.
Sylvie shook her head at the sight but went to the kitchen without another word after ordering takeout.
By the time Jacob finished the Cheetos, the fried chicken arrived, and Sylvie had prepared lunch.
“I don’t need lunch. I’ll have this,” Jacob said, hugging his fried foods and gaming while eating. When his phone died, he switched to a handheld console.

Chapter 242
Sylvie tried several times to get him to eat real food, but he refused
At noon, Jacob also rejected Sylvie’s suggestion to nap, lying on the sofa and playing his console nonstop. When he grew tired of it, he called Emillie to play games together. After a few rounds, Emilio was called away by his mom to do homework.
“I’m so jealous,” Emilio said reluctantly.
“Just tell your mom you want to rest for a day–the vacation’s long,” Jacob advised, licking a popsicle and holding his phone watch.
