“I can go up and wait for her myself. No need to bother.” Brian refused.

“But Jessi said not to let you upstairs.” Sana frowned.

Jessica had made it clear that Brian should be turned away unless it was strictly work–related.

“She’ll be furious if she wakes up and finds you here,” Sana warned, trying to be helpful.

“Don’t worry. I’ll be gone before she wakes. She won’t even know I was here,” Brian insisted.

Sana almost softened at his dedication, but then remembered his link to Madeline, steeling her resolve.

“Still no. I can’t disobey Jessi’s orders. If you don’t hand over the container, you’ll have to leave. I’ll just order her lunch myself,” she said, keeping her

tone firm.

Brian shot her a look, then pulled out his phone to call Dereck.

“Oh, come on!” Sana protested, hating to drag Dereck into this.

She reluctantly gave in. “Fine, but you promise she won’t see you. I’ll get in huge trouble if she does.” Muttering warnings, she led him toward the

elevator.

Brian put his phone away with a nod. “Understood.”

Upstairs, Jessica jolted awake from another nightmare with a sharp cry.

“Jessi, what’s happening?” Sana heard the noise from the corridor and sprinted to the office, only to see Brian already rushing inside.

In the office, Jessica gasped for air, collapsing onto her desk. Her hands trembled as she reached for the oxygen tank beside her.

Brian’s eyes widened. He leaped forward, grabbing the tank and helping her secure the mask.

After several deep breaths, Jessica began to steady herself.

“Than… Why are you here?” Her expression darkened when she saw Brian.

“Feeling better? Do you need another tank? Is there enough here, or should I order more right away?” Brian ignored her glare, firing off questions as he checked the equipment.

Jessica shoved him away. “Mind your own business! Who let you up here?” Her sharp gaze shot to Sana who trailed in behind Brian.

Sana quickly defended herself. “Jessi, I had no choice. He said he’d call Mr. Grant if I didn’t bring him up.”

Jessica’s face fell. She stood and rounded on Brian. “Brian, enough already?”

Brian placed a hand on her shoulder. “Calm down. I’ll leave right now if you want, but you have to promise to eat lunch.”

He lifted the insulated container he’d set on the desk and held it out. “I made new dishes based on your current cravings. Try them and see if they work.”

Jessica reached to push it away, but Brian added, “If you’re too tired to eat, I’ll feed you myself.”

As he spoke, Brian guided her gently but firmly to a small sofa, then opened the container and arranged the food.

The spicy, savory smell hit her nose, making her throat itch with hunger.

Brian saw her reaction and knew the meal was a hit. “Take your time. I have a meeting this afternoon, so I’ll head back.”

“Who asked for your food?” Jessica snapped.

Brian smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face, then turned to leave.

Jessica watched him go, not asking Sana to dump the food.

Sana quickly handed her a fork. “Don’t starve yourself, Jessi.”

She thought, ‘Whether he made it or not, the point is getting her to eat.’

“Hmm,” Jessica grumbled, stabbing a piece of food.

The moment it hit her tongue, she was hooked by the spicy flavor. Soon, she was wolfing it down.

By the time she finished eating, the realization hit–she was appalled by her own actions.

She thought, ‘How did I accidentally indulge Brian again? How will I ever fully break free from his influence and Jake’s at this rate?‘

“Bring me tomorrow’s tasks. I’ll deal with them this afternoon, then clear my morning schedule. I need to go to the psychology clinic,” Jessica said, her

tone tense.

Sana lit up at once. “Okay, I’ll get everything ready.”

She thought, ‘The fact that Jessi is willing to see Wesley is a major step forward.’

But Jessica’s spirits sank further at Sana’s evident joy.

She thought, ‘I’ve worried so many people with my problems. I have to get better fast.

The next day, Jessica returned to Wesley’s clinic.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect to see you so soon,” Wesley sighed, shaking his head at her quick reappearance.

Jessica stayed silent.

“Take a seat.” Wesley motioned to the chair, then placed Tres, who’d trotted over, into her arms.

She took the cat mechanically, stroking it absently as she struggled to speak.

“Not sleeping well lately?” Wesley asked, eyeing the deep dark circles under her eyes.

Jessica nodded. “I’ve been having nightmares.”

“About what? Can you elaborate?” He poured her a glass of warm water.
