“Jake, dig into this meatloaf. You helped me make it, remember?” Stella shot a worried glance at Jessica and Jacob, then placed a slice of meatloafon Jacob’s plate.

“Mom, look! I helped make this. It’s awesome!” Like any kid, Jacob forgot all about his question once distracted. He proudly showed off the meatloaf, beaming at Jessica

When she gave him a rare smile, he got even more excited, eagerly serving everyone at the table a slice.

After dinner, Stella played with Jacob in the living room for half an hour. She was planning to ask May to prepare a room so Jacob could stay overnight. But Jessica had already called Brian, telling him to come and pick up Jacob
