Once Jared Crawford returned to the villa after work, he asked the butler while he headed upstairs, “Did that woman make things difficult for Janice?”

The butler knew he meant Gwen, so he answered softly, “No, Mrs. Crawford didn’t do anything.”

“At least she’s sensible,” Jared said and wondered, ‘If she still doesn’t know where she stands, I won’t spare her like I did the last time!’

“Mr. Crawford, actually… Mrs. Crawford isn’t as bad as you think she is, she’s very nice to the servants,” the butler expressed hesitantly.

The old butler, who was over half a century old, could not understand why his boss was not fond of Gwen when she was such a gentle, kind, and good-natured person.

‘She has been married into the Crawford family for a year, but Mr. Crawford never treated her well.

On the other hand, Jared sneered. “She’s hypocritical!”

‘She’s a woman who deliberately planned to get married to me but cheated on me during our wedding night. How good of a person can she be?

‘Not to mention she kept trying to harm Janice. How is she a kind woman?

‘She’s pretentious! Hypocritical!’

The butler sighed and kept quiet.

Jared entered the master bedroom right away. When he removed his coat and casually threw it to the bed, he suddenly noticed two wooden figures on the bedside table. “What’s this?”

“Mrs. Crawford carved them herself. She actually made a box of them, but she picked the nicest ones,” the butler replied to him with a smile.

Jared knew that Gwen was adept in wood carving.

The two little carved figures were actually them in their wedding outfits. However, they had only gotten their marriage certificates when they got married without taking wedding photos, thus the wedding outfits were what Gwen had imagined.

A lot of effort was put into carving the figures because they were lifelike; their facial features looked just the same.

Jared wondered how many times Gwen had seen his picture and pictured his face in her mind that she could make the figures look so much like them.

He thought, ‘That woman’s pretentious, but she’s sincere toward me indeed.’

Following that, he pursed his lips and put the wooden figures back on the table.
