Mrs. White said, “You’ve been married to Jared for a year, but there’s still no news of your pregnancy. You must seize the opportunity.”
There was a hint of bitterness in Gwen’s smile. ‘Having a child?
‘Jared doesn’t love me and firmly believes that I cheated on him. Besides, he despises me for being dirty and will never lay a finger on me. How can I have his child?
‘A child… He and Janice do have one.’
Moreover, Gwen was no longer passionate about Jared after the incidents at the prison and hospital.
She was even considering letting him go and setting herself free too…
“Gwen, what are you thinking?”
Mrs. White called out softly to Gwen, whose mind had drifted far away.
Gwen flashed a smile at her mom. “Mom, Jared and I already have a plan. We won’t be having a child these two years; we haven’t had enough of spending time together with just the two of us.”
“Is that so? I just feel that it’s better to have a child since you’re married into the Crawford family — a rich and influential family, but since you and Jared already have a plan, I’m at ease…”
Gwen was feeling more sorrowful after hearing her mom. She gave an excuse that she would fetch some water but after leaving the ward with the kettle, she sobbed soundlessly below a flight of stairs where people rarely passed by.
Jared watched her from around the corner. He somehow felt uncomfortable when he saw her tears roll down her eyes and dripped to the floor.
Nonetheless, he could not figure out if he was feeling uneasy because she was full of lies or because of her tears of weakness.
Just as Jared was about to approach Gwen, a nurse beat him to it. “Miss White, you’re here, I’ve been looking for you for a long time. You should be getting an infusion now.”
Gwen wiped her tears away. “Okay, I’ll go now.”
‘An infusion?
‘Is she ill?’
Jared frowned.
Gwen did not notice Jared because she left through another corridor.
On the other hand, Jared stopped the nurse and asked, “What infusion is she getting?”
“Are you referring to Miss White?”
The nurse answered honestly, “A while ago, our hospital had an accident patient, whose blood type was rhesus negative*. The surgery required a considerable amount of blood for the blood transfusion, but our blood bank lacked that blood type, and the other hospitals couldn’t transfer us more blood in time. Luckily, Miss White was at the hospital that day. She offered to donate her blood after hearing about the matter, and she donated nearly 400 cc* of blood. In the end, she passed out before she was able to leave the hospital.”
‘Offered to donate blood?
