"Do you remember what happened between you and Ms. Youngworth?" Felix asked.

The human brain was different from a computer. It couldn't restore lost data like in a computer. So when Hera asked Felix if there was any way to help Bernard regain his memories, Felix wasn't very hopeful about it.

"I remember just some of the things. What did you do to me five years ago?" said Bernard.

"It's a miracle enough that you remember some of them!" Felix exclaimed enthusiastically. "By using the same method, we might be able to help you get back all your memories."

"Answer me," Bernard snapped.

"Don't be mad. I'll tell you everything, so calm down."

Felix poured Bernard a glass of water. After packing up the medical equipment and handing it to his assistant, he said, "Ms. Youngworth asked me to do it."

Narrowing his eyes, Bernard waited for Felix to continue.

"Five years ago, your condition worsened terribly. Ms. Youngworth was worried that things would get worse for you if something bad happened to her, so she asked me to erase her from your memories if something bad really befell her," Felix explained.

Hera wanted everyone to keep this a secret from Bernard, but they were already getting into trouble. Felix thought things might get worse for them if he didn't speak the truth.

"So, you're the one who made me forget her!" Realization dawned on Bernard. "Why did you simply do what she told you to?"

Did Hera not know that he'd rather forget everyone else in the world than forget her?

Bernard's piercing gaze and overbearing stance put Felix under quite some pressure. He responded to that question, "Yeah. I did it."

Douglas sympathized with Felix and interrupted the conversation, "Bernard, your condition went downhill really fast after Ms. Youngworth fell off the cliff five years ago. No one knew if she was alive, but her chance of surviving that fall at that time was slim.

But even after erasing Bernard's memories of Hera, he managed to remember a fragment of the past. To Felix, it was a one-in-a-million type of miracle. He was sure that Bernard and Hera would have to stick together for the rest of their lives.

Neither Bernard nor Hera could live without the other.

Douglas had Felix's back. "That's right, Bernard. You weren't in a good condition back then. That was why we chose to listen to Hera. Even if we were wrong, you should at least wait until she wakes up before deciding what to do with us."

Bernard let out a cold bark of laughter. "Wait? You want me to wait because, with her around, you guys will be spared, huh?"

Douglas shut his mouth. Bernard was as smart and vigilant as ever.
