Who was that guy that answered the call from Mrs. Everly just now? What was his relationship with her? Should he tell Mr. Everly about this?

"Why haven't you gone to grab food yet?"

Finnian stepped out to grab something and noticed Will, who he'd sent off to get food about five minutes ago, still standing by the office door. So he asked.

Will looked up instantly, torn with indecision. Well, the call had already been made, and besides, Mr. Everly might find out sooner or later anyway. So perhaps it was better to come clean now?

"Mr. Everly, I remember Mrs. Everly makes a good clam chowder, so I took the liberty to call and see if she could bring some over. But some guy grabbed the phone and said no."

As Will reached the last part, he stared at Finnian and gulped nervously, fearing he might get thrown out for his audacity.

Finnian's face was partly shadowed, making it hard for Will to read his expression. He just heard him say nonchalantly, "It's fine, go get some food."

And with that, he watched Finnian turn and walk away.

Back in his office, Finnian mulled over what Will had said, feeling an odd prickling sensation, like a tiny thorn in his side. It wasn't intensely painful, but it was definitely unsettling.

What was Amara doing just now? Was she with another man? Who could that man be?

Besides feeling unsettled, Finnian couldn't shake a sense of humiliation. It wasn't clear even to him where these feelings stemmed from.

His gaze was deep as he stared at his phone on the desk, feeling the urge to call Amara and ask. Yet, even if he did call, what would he say?

Meanwhile, after about an hour or so, the two of them finished making dinner. As Keith dished out the food, he asked, "Amara, why are you and Finnian getting a divorce?"

Together, she and Keith had whipped up a feast with four dishes and a soup, along with some freshly steamed rice. The spread looked delicious.

Over the years, Amara had gotten used to wearing a mask, but in front of only two people could she be comfortable enough to take it off — one was Elysia, and the other was Keith.

So now, she casually pulled off her mask, picked up a fork, and grabbed a piece of steak, chewing contentedly. "Mmm, this is great. Your cooking skills haven't waned."

Keith stared at Amara's face, completely awestruck.

A few seconds later, with a clatter, his fork hit the floor. His mouth hung open as he stared at Amara like he was seeing something miraculous, looking a bit silly.

Amara felt a bit embarrassed under his gaze and gave him a gentle shove. "Hey, what are you doing? Can you just eat your dinner already?"
