A driver, who had just picked up customers, shouldn't speak so indifferently.

Feeling disappointed, Jenson adjusted his position and instinctively wanted to observe the driver through the rearview mirror.

As soon as he glanced over, he noticed the driver lowering his head. The driver had clearly peeked at them earlier. Judging from the driver's guilty look, it seemed like he wasn't a good person.

Jenson tugged at Germaine's dress and gave her a look. She instantly took the hint, and the two of them began to observe the surroundings outside the car, estimating the likelihood of jumping out of the car.

Germaine shook her head, but just then, she saw the driver outside the car swinging a hammer at them.

"Watch out!" She quickly pulled Jenson toward her.

At the same time, the glass shattered, and a smoke grenade was thrown inside. Jenson and Germaine were used to this kind of situation, so they tacitly held their breath and pretended to pass out.

After a while, the smoke dissipated, and the driver returned to the scene. He opened the car door and was about to check how deeply unconscious they were.

She then suppressed her annoyance and walked toward the driver, intending to wake him up. She couldn't carry two adults by herself.

As she got closer, she lifted her high heels to kick the driver. "You useless piece of crap, get up already!"

As soon as she said that, someone hit her hard on the back of her neck. The woman let out a muffled groan and collapsed onto the driver.

Avery stretched his muscles while looking at the two unconscious people. "The hunter has now become the hunted. You two just rest well here."

After dragging the driver and the woman to the roadside and settling them, he turned and walked to the other side. He hoisted Germaine over his shoulder and carried Jenson under his arm, walking with ease.
