Jenson could feel the blade piercing through the skin, but when he focused his gaze, he realized it was Ricardo who had been stabbed.

Ricardo took the blow for Alice. He had been badly beaten earlier, and now his forehead was drenched in sweat from the pain.

Jenson was taken aback; the person he wanted to kill was Alice, not Ricardo.

Seeing Jenson let his guard down, Ricardo shoved Jenson to the ground. Ignoring the knife lodged in his body, Ricardo struggled to his feet and pulled Alice along as they ran.

Jenson knew that as long as Ricardo was around, he wouldn't be able to end Alice. He watched helplessly as the two got into a car and escaped. He sat there for a long time before getting up from the ground in a daze.

As he turned, he found Germaine standing under a streetlamp, watching him. The feeling of being caught in the act still hit him.

He stood frozen in place, like a child who had done something wrong. His lips moved slightly, but no words came out.

"Is this the mission you mentioned?" Germaine transformed back into the independent woman she used to be, exuding an imposing demeanor. "Jenson, I want the truth."

At this point, Jenson could only come clean. Germaine felt a mix of emotions after hearing it. "So you planned to kill her and then act like nothing ever happened?"

"No!" Jenson sounded both anxious and serious. "I planned to kill Alice and then take my own life, so you won't find out that you were once betrayed, and you won't feel hurt."

Germaine was momentarily unsure whether to feel angry or sad. "Is this why you've been avoiding me all this time?"

She had thought that they were soulmates and that they were able to understand each other without saying a word. But now, it seemed this was just her wishful thinking.

Jenson didn't understand her as well as he appeared to be. No matter how big the problem was, they could always discuss and find a solution together. Yet, he didn't trust her.
