"Ms. Leonard, you're mistaken. Our friendship isn't as deep as you think. You don't need to concern yourself with my feelings." It was evident that Chandler's tone carried a touch of alienation.

Margaret continued. "That's fine then. I was worried that you might be angry with me. By the way..." She remembered something and pulled out two violin concert tickets from her purse. She had prepared them in advance.

"Chandler, these are tickets to a concert by our favorite violinist, Mike. He's performing in Aguilisco the day after tomorrow. I've arranged VIP tickets through a friend. Shall we go together?"

Anyone else would have accepted this stunning invitation. However, Chandler declined, "I'm sorry, but I have a busy work schedule and won't have the time to go. You can enjoy it on your own."

Margaret's face stiffened. This was the first time Chandler had ever rejected her invitation.

Helen felt strangely awkward standing between them. "Um, maybe I should head back on my own then?"

These words were just what Margaret had in mind. She was about to say something when Chandler said, "Wait here. I'll go get the car."

Helen could only nod. Once Chandler was gone, Margaret warned her, "Helen, you'd better be mindful of your place here. You and Chandler are worlds apart. You're not getting something that doesn't belong to you."

Helen retorted, "The same goes for you, Margaret! Don't fantasize about things that don't belong to you. Chandler couldn't care less about you, yet you keep shamelessly pursuing him."

"You!" Margaret was fuming. She raised her hand to slap Helen, but Helen caught her hand firmly.

"What? You're resorting to violence when you lose an argument? Is this how a well-mannered lady behaves?"

Inexplicably, Helen felt a tinge of happiness and added, "But she seems to really like you."

Helen sensed a hint of bitterness within her when she said that.

Chandler raised an eyebrow and looked at Helen before calmly remarking, "You're quite nosy."

Helen quickly shook her head. "Never mind then, forget that I asked. It was just a casual comment, so don't take it seriously. I'll rest for a bit, so let me know when we get home."

Chandler responded hum.
