“Jessica and I will go together,” a voice declared. A lone rider swiftly approached on horseback. Surprisingly, it was none other than Leon.

“Your Highness…” Garbisch hesitated, his face clouded with uncertainty.

Leanna nodded approvingly. “Leon is highly skilled. With him by Jessica’s side, I feel perfectly at ease.”

“But what if…” Karlie looked at the pair, the words hanging on her lips yet ultimately left unspoken.

Leon proposed, “If Jessica and I find the black bear together, we’ll team up to capture it. Then we’ll settle it with mounted archery duels, the winner claims the bear. What do you think, aunties?”

This overly familiar address nearly sent Garbisch tumbling from his horse.

Jessica was visibly confused and quickly shot him a sharp glare. “Your Highness, you mustn’t say such things!”

Leon started, “You and I…”

“Shut up!” Jessica snapped.

Leon immediately clamped his mouth shut.

The aunties couldn’t stop grinning.

“Alright, let’s do as Leon suggests! We’ll team up first, then settle the score later,” one of them said cheerfully.

Alivia called out, “Garbisch, you’re with me. Let’s go!” Taking the lead, she spurred her horse straight into the heart of the Beast Zone.

With resignation, Garbisch cast a quick, helpless glance at Leon. “Your Highness, please watch over Jessica for me.”

“Rest assured, Brother. I swear on my life, I’ll protect Jessica,” Leon declared, giving him a solemn bow with clasped hands.

That address sent Garbisch’s barely settled mind spinning into chaos again.
