Chapter 236
“Your Highness, let’s just go find that black bear already,” Jessica said, massaging her forehead.
“If I keep chatting with him, I’m afraid he’ll completely derail my train of thought,” she mused.
‘How did we even get onto the topic of marriage?‘ Jessica wondered.
Jessica strode forward, Leon following close behind.
Both of them were armed with bows as they ventured deep into the heart of the beast zone. Though the royal hunting grounds were generally safe, the presence of black bears here always carried some risk.
Leon watched the way she was going, his eyes glinting with interest. “Where exactly are you headed?” he asked.
“Your Highness, didn’t you disapprove of my chosen path at first? So why are you so willing to follow me now?” Jessica glanced back at him briefly before resuming her advance.
“At first, I had my doubts about which path you’d take. But wherever you go, I’ll always have your back.”
Leon maintained a steady three–step distance behind her, never altering this spacing regardless of whether she quickened or slowed her pace.
“And now?” Jessica pressed.
“Now…” Leon paused briefly, then suddenly chuckled: “Now I think my Jessica is truly brilliant.”
Jessica simply smiled without responding.

“Your Highness, neither of us really knows our way around this hunting ground. It’s my first time here, and as for you, it’s been what, five years since you last set foot here? So please, let’s be careful,” Jessica said, her tone both respectful and concerned.
Leon offered a reassuring smile. “Relax. The fiercest beasts here are just black bears. As long as they’re not pack hunters, a few solitary ones pose little threat.”
Somehow, Jessica turned around and found herself locking eyes with Leon.
A touch of unease settled over Jessica.
Leon looked down at her, his expression turning grave. “Shall we proceed? I sense something… unusual in the air.”
“You sense it too, Your Highness?” Jessica halted and turned to face him.
Unbeknownst to them, they had already passed through the territory where the fiercest beasts roamed. This area now appeared deceptively peaceful, giving no hint of the danger that lurked beneath the surface.
But this current tranquility was like the eerie calm before the storm.
The deeper the silence, the deadlier the threat.
Leon grinned and said, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Since you’re so determined to win the championship, how could I not risk my life and stand
