“Assassins?” Garbisch’s heart skipped a beat.

Jessica nodded and said, “Those assassins were coming for me.”

Garbisch frowned and said, “Jessica, as a woman, who else could be your enemy besides the Mcbride sisters? But those two have no political influence here in Capitalia…”

Garbisch pondered for a moment, then suddenly clenched his fist. “Adele?”

Jessica said, “I don’t have concrete evidence, so I can’t say for sure. There may still be others lurking in the shadows. But if it’s Adele… that would actually make things simpler.”

Monica should be back by now. Jessica looked at Garbisch and said, “I’ll take Leanna to see Grandfather. Now that you’re the commander of the Royal Guard, you’re responsible for the princes‘ safety.”

“Jessica, what do you need me to do?” Garbisch asked.

“Deploy some men to protect Leon,” Jessica said as she strode toward the door.

“Why?” Garbisch hurried after her, frowning in confusion. “Is someone trying to harm Leon?”

“Now that he’s back, there will be plenty of people after him.” Jessica paused for a moment, then turned to look at him and said, “But those black wolves in the hunting grounds this time, they were specifically targeting Leon.”

Leon House was so heavily guarded that, as long as Leon remained within its walls, there was really no need for the Royal Guard to step in.

But now that Garbisch had become the commander of the Royal Guard, he had to at least make a show of concern, otherwise, it would be considered dereliction of duty.

After Garbisch left, Jessica headed to the backyard.

Leanna didn’t know what Jessica meant, but the moment she laid eyes on Algernon, her eyes instantly filled with tears.

“After all… you’ve come back.” Algernon’s sigh carried the weight of years, yet there was an unmistakable note of relief in his voice.

Leanna stood to the side, completely at a loss. She could only look at Jessica, not understanding what Algernon meant.
