Leanna burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably. “Father! Father!” she cried. “For the rest of my life, I’ll be a dutiful daughter to you in Dayton’s stead! Father!”

Jessica raised her hand and dabbed at her eyes, discreetly wiping away the two tears that had escaped.

Algernon’s health had indeed deteriorated. After speaking with the two of them, his energy began to wane again.
