Jessica’s eyes flickered with a dangerous glint, but as she turned to face him, her expression softened, and she appeared as calm and gentle as ever.

The sharp edge in her gaze faded almost instantly. Ignoring Laver, she turned to Grover.

“Grover, Grandfather’s need for nest was prescribed by Dr. Millard Carr, who is the king’s personal doctor. Do you trust him so little that you doubt his

advice?”

“Do you think mentioning Dr. Carr will make me nervous?” Grover scoffed, dismissing her. “Let me be cleart Garbisch’s health is failing, and the direct line of the Yates family is at risk of ending with him!

“Today, I’ve come to get General Algernon’s approval to adopt Lavern’s family into his name, so the Yates family bloodline can continue.
