Everyone was stunned for a moment, then quickly bowed in respect. “Your Highness!”

Although Grover held the title of Baron, it was far beneath General Algernon’s, and even more insignificant before a prince.

Though he couldn’t get out of his wheelchair, he immediately had someone push him in front of Walder Fishowed respectfully. “Your Highness”

Waldo smiled lightly. “Grover, I believe I just heard a lady mention that she knew all about my affairs?”

Carole was so frightened that she immediately bowed, desperately trying to explain, “I didn’t mean that, Your Highness! I didn’t–”

“So, does that mean you think I’ve heard wrongly Waldo interrupted coldly.

“No, no, I didn’t mean that “Carole stammered, backpedaling

“You shrew! How dare you insult His Highness’s hearing, Guards, take her away and give her twenty lashes,” Hughie commanded sternly.

“Understood!” Two guards immediately grabbed Carole and dragged her away.

Carole, terrified, almost fainted from fear, crying out, “Your Highness, I was wrong! Please spare me! Please, Your

Highness!”

Waldo ignored her completely, instead focusing on Lavern, who was about to intervene. But before he could speak, Waldo turned his gaze to Grover “Grover, do you have something to say?” he asked.

Grover remained silent, not daring to respond.

The Yates family was completely quiet now. They were suddenly too afraid to speak.

Carole passed out from the pain after being given twenty lashes.

The Yates family, not understanding the relationship between Jessica and Prince Waldo, dared not bring up the issue of making Lavern the heir.

They quickly found an excuse to leave, eager to avoid any further confrontation

As they were leaving, Lavern couldn’t resist casting one last glare at Jessica

Jessica caught the look and understood exactly what it meant.

Today, Lavern let things slide for Prince Waldo’s sake, and so things had been temporarily settled. But with Gabbisch’s declining health, Lavern was determined to seize the family’s title.

Once they had left, Monica, who had been hiding in the depths of the courtyard, quickly approached Jessica and whispered, “We didn’t disturb General Algernon. I had people keep watch, and no one from the Grover House was allowed in.”

Jessica nodded, signaling for Monica and Nolan to step back.

The Yates family y was indeed weak right now, but fortunately, those around Jessica were still capable of handling things. For the moment, they could hold their ground.

However, from Waldo’s perspective, the Yates family was on the brink of collapse. If things continued this way, it wouldn’t be long before it all fell apart.

“Ms. Yates, the schemer, has always prided herself on being clever. Yet somehow, she’s ended up in such a helpless situation, and all on her own too,” Waldo said mockingly once they were alone. “Quits the unexpected outcome.”

Though his words were harsh, Jessica wasn’t bothered. She leaned forward slightly and said, “Thank you for your help earlier, Your Highness.”
