Chapter 109
Anastasia hung up Felicia’s phone directly. She was annoyed to have heard the latter talking on the phone.
Felicia sent her WhatsApp message instead when Anastasia did not answer her phone.
“Anastasia, you will regret not answering my calls.” Anastasia ignored Felicia and wanted to block her. She thought against it, as she might have needed their chat history to be used as evidence.
Instead of blocking, Anastasia changed Felicia’s contact settings to “Do not disturb.” Subsequently, she began her search for suitable accommodation.
“Annic, we can continue to stay in that house. We are short of money. Moreover, Grandma still needs medical care. I want to save more money. So, let’s keep living here,” Jason said while looking at Anastasia.
Anastasia sighed and put the phone aside. “Then promise me that you will not have any further involvement or contact with Samuel. We can buy a house and move out when we have money.”

Jason nodded and said, “Okay.”
He would listen to anything Anastasia said.
“Thank you for that art exhibition, Jason.” If he had not helped her, she would not have known where she could hold her last art exhibition.
Maybe she would choose a park or even a corner. Or perhaps, nothing could be done.
Anastasia sat on the couch, feeling helpless and powerless.
It was Alastor, the husband who cornered her to desperation.
“Between us, do you need to be so polite?” Jason frowned and was a little unhappy.
Anastasia smiled and concurred, “Yes, we are family. There’s no need to be so polite.”
“We are a family–family members.” Jason sighed and could only accept the categorization of them as “family members.” He continued, “I’ll go to Mr. Lexington’s place this afternoon and work on the art exhibition. You don’t have to worry about anything. You just stay at home. There will be no accidents in the art exhibition. I promise you that. Trust me.”
Jason’s gaze was firmly locked on Anastasia, and he told her not to worry about anything but to rest at home. Anastasia felt a tug at her heartstrings and nodded nervously.
She felt that Jason had.been too good to her, so much so that it was unsettling.
“Don’t be so good to me, Jason.” Anastasia’s voice was hoarse.
“What are you talking about? We are a family. Shouldn’t we support each other?” Jason smiled and stood up to leave. He paused after a few steps, looked back at Anastasia, and said, “I’d like to have something light for dinner.”
Anastasia was stunned. At that moment, there was an overlap between Jason and Alastor.
Alastor had a liking for light meals because of his gastric problem.
Every morning, Anastasia would wake up early and prepare breakfast. Then, she would help Alastor choose the suit and tie for that day.
It was peaceful, at last.
