Evie nodded but quickly asked, “Has Mabel been behaving? She hasn’t been fighting with Julius, has she?” 

Charlotte smiled helplessly, “Not at all. Mabel has been a sweetheart. Didn’t she tell you? I want to make her my goddaughter. Do you agree?”

Evic shook her head. “Lottie, don’t speak so definitively. He’s still your child, the baby you carried for ten months. Can you really let go that easily? If it’s possible, have you considered fighting Arthur for custody?”
