Chapter 22 A Tempting Offer
“Ms. Aroma, you are amazing; you’ve made Mr. Caldwell fall asleep,” she said.
When Edward heard the news, his eyes sparkled with joy.
Jayce was his most cherished grandson, but he had been grappling with depression. Despite trying various
treatments over the years, nothing had worked.
Taking a deep breath, Edward said, “Ms. Aroma, you’ve been so helpful. Please accept this small token of my gratitude.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the butler clapped his hands, and a
procession of servants entered the room, each carrying a tray adorned with an array of exquisite jewelry.
There were elegant jewels, shimmering pearl necklaces, collectible gemstones, renowned paintings, and lastly, a check for ten million dollars.
Charlotte’s excitement bubbled beneath the surface as she saw them.
Meanwhile, she felt regret for giving up her career over the past five years.
If she had focused on her career during that time, her current assets might have been substantial enough to buy out the Harrison Group.
Though thrilled, she replied, “Sir Caldwell, thank you, but you don’t have to

go to such lengths. I never expected my fragrance to work so well on Mr. Caldwell. I owe him my gratitude for proving my skills. These gifts are too extravagant for me to accept.”
Edward’s expression hardened, “Do you think these gifts aren’t worthy? I can certainly arrange for more.”
“No, that’s not what I meant,” Charlotte quickly interjected, shaking her head.
“Then please accept them. Ms. Aroma, at my age, all I want is for my family to be safe and healthy. Money is no longer important to me; its greatest value lies in securing their well–being,” said Edward.
Unable to turn down such kindness, Charlotte accepted the gifts, and Edward had them packed and sent to her car.
He added, “It’s my birthday party tonight; have fun, and if you need anything, just come to the butler.”
Charlotte smiled, “Thank you, I will.”
Edward wanted to check on Jayce, so Charlotte took her leave.
The news spread quickly among the guests, and as Charlotte descended the staircase, members of influential families approached her for conversation.
Diana stood before her, dealing with them.
Charlotte found a quiet corner, sat down, and began to enjoy some dessert.
Things were going well. With Ms. Aroma’s
reputation growing, Charlotte believed her grandmother would eventually hear about it and feel proud.
Yet, thoughts of her grandmom also made her feel guilty. Once she made a name for herself, she promised to apologize to her grandma.
Just then, a tall figure approached. Arthur, holding a glass of wine, took a seat beside her.
Charlotte rolled her eyes inwardly, thinking, “Why is he everywhere?”
Before she could get up to leave, Arthur said, “I’ll give you fifty million dollars for your fragrance.”
