Pete laughed at her reaction, his amusement clear. “So you decided to abandon me, right?”

She thought, “Have I made some kind of promise to him last night while I was drunk?

Charlotte checked her phone for the upcoming work schedule and said, “I’m free in two days. How about I show you around the city then? Or, I could find you a local guide.” 

Pete shook his head. “No guides. I want you to come with me.” 

Charlotte rolled her eyes again and stood up. “No more jokes. I need to make a call to my grandma.” 

Pete nodded, watching her walk into the office. 

He didn’t linger for long, heading straight for his car. As soon as he got in, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen before answering, “Go ahead.”
