Sebastian furrowed his brows throughout the conversation, and when she finished, he didn’t approve. 

“Lottie, if you do that, you can’t avoid Arthur. You’ve already decided to divorce him, and if you go to him now, aren’t you just giving him a reason to control you?” 

Charlotte replied, “We’re going to divorce sooner or later. He has to compensate me for something. I’ll use this as a trade. He’ll agree to it.” 

Sebastian shook his head again. “No. I can’t let you make the same mistake again.” 

“Sebastian.”

Charlotte gave a helpless smile, then said, “I’ll handle my own business, but I need to consider you, too. Don’t you want your wife to have a better life? Do you really want her to end up in the same situation we’re in? Camille will make things difficult for her.” 

Sebastian fell silent. 

He knew that since Camille was so harsh and indifferent to her own children, she wouldn’t be gentle with his wife. 

He knew how huge the challenge would be.

After dinner, Sebastian drove her back to Starlight Terrace. As she stepped out of the elevator and approached her door, she saw a tall figure standing by the corridor. 

She was startled. 

After recognizing him, she patted her chest, her perfectly shaped brows knitting together in annoyance. Ignoring him, she swiped her finger on the door to unlock it. 

But as she was about to close the door behind her, that man walked over. 

Charlotte hesitated, then decided not to shut the door. She crossed her arms and looked at him. “Do you need something?” 

Arthur’s suit jacket was casually draped over his shoulder, the top button of his white shirt undone. His sharp, handsome face was unreadable beneath the neat, short hair. His deep, soulful eyes locked on her.

Charlotte raised an eyebrow, then turned and walked inside. A few moments later, she came back out, holding a garbage bin. She handed it to him. “Here they are.” 

Arthur blinked, clearly surprised that she actually threw his clothes away. 

Seeing his silence, Charlotte raised her brows. “Aren’t you here to take them?” 

Arthur looked up at her, a flicker of something dark in his eyes, his pain almost tangible. His head was pounding. After all, he hadn’t slept a wink the previous night. 

He hadn’t just sat in her place for a little while, as he told her before. He had stayed there all night. 

He had spent the night reflecting on all the details he had missed over the past five years. She had once told him he didn’t deserve to know when she started liking him, and that thought 

haunted him. 

Looking at their past from an outsider’s perspective, he realized that he had been a jerk. 

He stared at her and asked, “I’m hungry. Do you have anything 

to eat?” 

At some point, the sharp edge of his usual demeanor had completely disappeared when he was with her. 

He was making an effort to create opportunities to be with her.
