Chapter 37 You’re Not My Mom 

“Alright, one meal for a million dollars.” 

Arthur’s brows furrowed at her words. “What’s with you? Are you just after money? You’re Julius‘ mother.” 

Charlotte blinked innocently. “But I don’t remember that. To me, you’re just strangers. And when I cook for strangers, I expect to get paid. I don’t work for free.” 

Arthur’s frustration was evident, the muscles in his forehead twitching with anger. He could almost feel his blood boiling. 

How did she become so sharp–tongued? 

One sentence from her was enough to make him want to strangle her.

Julius, sitting quietly nearby, pouted. His big eyes shimmered with unshed tears as he stared at her. She seemed like a complete stranger to him. 

“You’re not my mom,” he said suddenly, his voice soft and hoarse, his gaze never leaving her. 

Charlotte froze for a second, then said coldly, “What, just because I’m not blindly devoted, you don’t want me to be your mom? Well, it looks like you’re the one who doesn’t want me around. Fine, I’ll gladly step aside. Let your dad sign the divorce papers, and I’ll be gone for good.” 

Once that paper was signed, she would disappear from their lives forever.

Tears welled up in Julius’s eyes and

spilled down his cheeks. “You’re not my mom! My mom would never treat me like this! You’re not her!” 

“Julius!” Arthur snapped, his voice hard with a reprimand. He felt his son was going too far. 

He took a deep breath, trying to calm the situation. “Your mom just lost her memory. She doesn’t remember you right now, but she will. Just give her some time.” 

Julius fought to hold back his sobs, but the tears kept flowing. 

His face was a mix of hurt and confusion, making him look so vulnerable that Charlotte’s heart clenched, though she 

quickly suppressed the feeling. 

She took a deep breath and looked at them both coolly. “So, what’s it going to be? Are you paying me or not? If not, we can sign the divorce papers now. If neither works for you, I have other things to do.” 

Arthur’s patience was clearly running out. With a cold glance, he transferred one million dollars to her account. 

Charlotte’s phone chimed with the payment notification, and she had a satisfied smile. Her mood instantly lifted. 

Money truly did solve everything. 

She stood up, glanced around, and then moved to the kitchen. After a quick scan of the ingredients, she threw together a

In less than half an hour, she was done. She clapped her hands together, “Alright, you can eat now.” 

She removed her apron and returned to the table. 

Arthur’s eyes narrowed when he saw the simple salad on the table. He tugged at his collar, irritation clearly written on his face. 

Without a word, he walked straight toward Charlotte. 

Startled, she quickly stood up to distance herself. “What are you doing?” 

Arthur didn’t respond, but the look in his eyes darkened with anger as he took slow,

deliberate steps toward her. 

Her back hit the wall near the stairs, leaving her nowhere to go. Realizing she was trapped, she immediately turned to run up the stairs. 

But the sound of his steady footsteps followed her, slow but unrelenting. 

Charlotte cursed herself. She should’ve run outside instead. 

“Arthur, what do you think you’re doing? Let me make this clear. I’m not afraid of you! You can’t do anything to me. I’m still the daughter of the Hardwick family, and we’re still married! If you dare lay a hand on me, I’ll expose you and let everyone know you’re an abusive jerk!” 

She kept backing away, trying to sound 

confident, but her voice lacked any real 

force. 

The problem was, his expression was just too terrifying. 

Before she could even finish her threat, Arthur’s steps quickened. In a single movement, he closed the distance 

between them and lifted her off the ground effortlessly. 

“Ah! What are you doing?! Put me down! Let go of me!” Charlotte screamed.
