Charlotte looked a little speechless.

Arthur didn’t pull his hand back. He kept holding the blocks she needed, his eyes flickering with a faint smile as he watched her. 

Charlotte really did need them. After a brief pause, she reluctantly reached out and took them. 

Their fingertips brushed against each other, but she stayed calm, continuing to assemble the blocks. 

As Arthur pulled his hand away, he absentmindedly rubbed his fingertips, lingering in the moment. 

A brief, tender feeling washed over him, and he found himself wanting more, unable to shake the feeling. 

When Julius focused on something, he was all in. He didn’t even notice the small tension between his parents as he quickly finished his part of the assembly. 

“Dad, Mom, I’m done with my part! What about you?” 

He looked from Arthur to Charlotte, eager to see their progress. 

“Dad, you’re done already? Why didn’t you say anything? Mom, you’re almost there, but where’s the main piece?”

Charlotte handed over the piece she was holding. “You finish the rest. I’m a bit tired.” 

Julius took it from her and finished putting it together in no time. 

The airplane model was huge, and the three of them had only managed to finish a third of it. 

“Dad, Mom, what do you think? Can we finish the rest at Rose Villa?” Julius‘ eyes sparkled with excitement. 

“Sure,” Arthur agreed without hesitation. 

Charlotte yawned and said, “I’m so tired. I’m going to bed.” 

Julius looked at her with pleading eyes. “Mom…” 

Charlotte felt a bit guilty. “I promise I’ll help when I’m not so tired.” 

Julius broke into a big grin. “Okay!” 

He jumped off the sofa, smiling as he said, “Great–grandma said I shouldn’t disturb you guys while you’re resting, so I’ll go now. Good night, Dad and Mom!” 

He darted out of the room and even closed the door behind him, all in one swift motion. 

Charlotte blinked, suddenly realizing that this was the room she and Arthur had stayed in right after they got married.

They’d only stayed here for a few days before moving to Rose Villa, and hadn’t come back since. She hadn’t even thought about it until now.

Arthur’s deep, smooth voice broke her thoughts. “You want to shower first, or should I?” 

Charlotte turned toward the bathroom, her voice tired but firm. “I will.” 

Arthur’s gaze never left her, and a strange feeling began to swell in his chest. He didn’t know when it started, but now he found his eyes constantly drawn to her. Even when she wasn’t around, he’d find himself looking for her, as though seeing her gave him a sense of peace.
