Chapter 40 I Need a Drink 

Looking at Julius like this, Charlotte couldn’t help but laugh. 

She had once poured her heart out to them, but they’d never cared. 

Now that she had made up her mind to leave, suddenly, they all wanted her back. 

But life wasn’t full of second chances, and regret didn’t work like that. 

With a cold glance, Charlotte turned and walked away. 

Tears welled up in Julius‘ eyes as he took a few steps forward. “Mom…” 

He thought to himself, “I’m sick, and she 

still won’t comfort me? 

Grandma says her memory loss is fake, so is she pretending not to care about me? 

Does she really not want me anymore?” 

Julius felt so sad. He hadn’t done anything wrong, and yet his mother was treating him like this. 

Charlotte’s heart ached, but she didn’t stop. She simply got into her car and drove off. 

Once in the car, she called Evie. 

“Honey, I need a drink.” 

Evie, always upbeat, responded immediately, “Come over! I’ve got tons of alcohol here, and we can drink all night. 

I’ll call Diana, and we’ll have a blast!” 

“Sounds perfect.” 

At Night Club. 

Evie, the owner, had booked the most luxurious VIP room. When Charlotte walked in, the table was already covered with an impressive array of drinks. 

Evie practically jumped on her. “My darling, I’ve missed you so much! I’ve been flying all over for work, and you’ve been wrapped up in your husband and son, huh? Did they put a spell on you or something?” 

She teased, reaching out to mess with 

Charlotte’s hair. 

Charlotte let her, her heart warming.

herself, but now, returning to a world with good friends still around, she felt so lucky. 

“Alright, enough with the drama. Let’s drink!” 

Diana, cool and composed as ever, cut in. Her icy beauty never seemed to change as she opened a bottle of liquor. 

Evie pulled Charlotte to sit and asked, “So, you’re really done with that scumbag, huh? You’re not going back to him?” 

“Yep.” Charlotte nodded firmly. “I’m done with him.” 

Evie grinned and clapped her hands. “That’s the spirit! Honestly, I’ve been wanting to tell you. Arthur is trash. He’s 

got someone else! Years ago, there was this woman, and because of her career, she had to go abroad. But Arthur stayed behind to take over the family business. And guess what? He got drugged, and you, poor thing, got caught up in it. You two rushed into a marriage, but he already had someone in his heart. He won’t love you. He can’t love you.” 

Charlotte’s grip on her glass tightened. “You… you knew?” 

Evie sighed, “I found out by accident, but by then, it was too late. You had a kid, and
