Camille screamed, clutching her hand in agony. She never expected Jacob to make such a sudden, brutal move. 

“Arthur!” James shot up from his seat, rage flickering in his eyes. He opened his mouth, ready to speak, but froze when Jacob took a single step toward him. 

James swallowed his words and thought, “This assistant- someone I’d never seen before–clearly isn’t acting on his own. His confidence screams one thing: Arthur has his back.”

Arthur’s lips curled into a cold, humorless smirk. “Yes, Tiffany died because of me. And I’ve been making up for it ever since. I’ve given the Miller family everything–money, support, whatever you’ve asked for. I’ve even put up with your ridiculous. demands. How many lives do you think your sister had, Sarah? Enough to cover all that?”

Sarah froze, stunned by his words. She took another step back, her lips trembling. “But…” 

“I’ve done enough,” Arthur cut her off, his voice low but firm. “I’ll keep supporting the Miller family. But as for you…” He let out a cold laugh, his tone laced with disdain. “Arranging this marriage is the last thing I’ll ever do for you.” 

Sarah’s defiance crumbled. Tears streamed down her face as she dropped to her knees, clutching at his sleeve in desperation. “Arthur, please don’t do this. It wasn’t my fault–what happened at the party–it wasn’t me. Charlotte told me to go. She said. you’d been drugged and needed someone to take care of you. I didn’t know what was really going on.”

But Arthur had already lost interest in her pleas. His voice was cold, devoid of emotion, as he turned to James. “The wedding is set for two weeks from now. I’ll have people oversee everything. Don’t do anything to upset me. Understand?”
