Chapter 418 Evie’s Departure 

Charlotte froze. “You’re leaving today?” 

“I planned to leave a few days ago,” Evie explained, “but you disappeared, and I was worried. Now that everything’s sorted out with you, I can finally go on my trip with peace of mind.” 

“I’ll drive you to the airport.” 

Evie shook her head. “No need. It’s better to keep things low–key. I don’t want to draw anyone’s attention.” 

“Especially not his,” she thought. 

Charlotte nodded in understanding. “Alright then. Let’s grab some food first. What do you all want? My treat.” 

After all, she was rolling in money now. She could afford to be generous! 

“I’m actually starving,” Diana chimed in. “How about steak?” 

“Perfect.” 

Everyone agreed, and they headed out for dinner together.

Joseph slammed his hand on the coffee table. “Arthur, have you lost your mind? Giving shares to an outsider? Do you even realize what ten percent means? Did you consult any of us? If you haven’t signed the agreement yet, then don’t. I absolutely refuse to accept this!” 

“I refuse as well,” Jennifer said gravely. “Don’t let your personal feelings compromise the group’s interests, Arthur. As CEO of the Harrison Group, you should know better that both shares and power must stay in our hands. You can’t give them to Charlotte.” 

Arthur sat in the armchair, his elbow propped on the armrest, his elegant fingers massaging his temples. With eyes closed, his voice came out cold and hoarse. “I’m splitting off my shares. It won’t affect your interests, so there’s no need for such alarm.” 

“Absolutely not!” Joseph’s face flushed with anger. “Your shares are still shares of the Harrison Group! You can give her any amount of money, but not shares!” 

Money could be paid once and done with, but shares meant giving Charlotte a voice in the Harrison Group. 

She wasn’t a Harrison! 

What right did she have to meddle in Harrison Group affairs? 

Arthur slowly lowered his hand, his eyes tinged red as he coolly regarded the furious Joseph. “Dad, why are you still in the country? Have you finished handling the overseas company matters?”

Arthur replied flatly, “What wouldn’t I dare to do?” 

He’d forced Halt and his family to live like rats worldwide, hiding from the light of day. His father would be no different. 

Jennifer’s brows furrowed as she softened her tone. “Arthur, do you feel guilty about Charlotte? You can make it up to her in other ways, but the Harrison Group shares are not an option. It isn’t something to be taken lightly.” 

Arthur lost his patience. “If I want to give it, I’ll give it. Why all this pointless talk?” 

With that, he stood up and walked out. 

Jennifer’s face turned dark as thunder. 

Joseph clenched his fists in anger. “We cannot let Charlotte get shares in the Harrison Group!” 

He turned to Jennifer. “You go talk to her.”
