Chapter 44 Just a Kiss 

Charlotte clenched her fists, barely stopping herself from pushing Arthur’s hand away. 

His thumb brushed gently over her lips, then suddenly pressed down, rubbing them firmly. 

Charlotte’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. After he withdrew his hand, she said, “Arthur, I apologize on her behalf. I’m sorry.” 

Arthur’s gaze dropped to the lipstick stain on his thumb. A shadow flashed in his eyes as he spoke calmly, “You think one apology will erase two hundred million dollars? Who do you think I am? A charitarian?” 

Charlotte asked, “Then tell me, what do you want us to do?” 

Arthur pulled out a tissue and wiped off the lipstick stain. His movements were casual, but his eyes never left her.

The room fell eerily silent. The lights in the corner flickered in all kinds of colors, and Charlotte felt her anxiety grow. 

He remained silent. The tension in the air made her feel as if she were being grilled over an open flame, uncomfortable and helpless. 

“Charlotte, have you really lost your memory?” 

Just when the atmosphere seemed ready to freeze, Arthur’s deep, magnetic voice

Charlotte’s eyelashes fluttered. She raised her head to meet his gaze, her locking with his deep, seductive ones. “Why would I pretend to have lost my memory?”

Charlotte was caught off guard, shocked by his sudden move. She didn’t react quickly enough and was kissed by him.
