“Hah!” Arthur let out a sneer, shooting a glance at his bodyguard.

The bodyguard immediately moved toward Joanna, raising his fist threateningly. 

Joanna quickly threw her hands up to protect her head, screaming, “Don’t hit me! Please don’t hit me! I’ll tell you everything!” 

“Lie to me again,” Arthur said icily, “and I’ll cut off one of your fingers. We’ll move to your toes if we run out of fingers.” 

Joanna shrank back in fear, instinctively looking to Sebastian for help. But when she saw his tightly pressed lips and apparent unwillingness to intervene, her face went pale with panic. 

“I understand,” Joanna stammered. 

Jacob stepped forward with a photo in his hand. “Is this you?” he asked. 

Joanna looked at the photo and nodded without thinking. “Yes, that’s me.” 

Jacob continued, “This screenshot was taken from security footage at the Riverside Club on July 21, 2019. You were working there as a temp server that night, correct?”

Confusion crossed Joanna’s face as she blinked. “I’ve worked so many jobs over the years. I guess I probably did work there.” 

“Cut off her finger,” Arthur ordered without a hint of negotiation. 

The bodyguard whipped out a knife, grabbed Joanna’s hand, and positioned the blade over her pinky finger. 

“No! Please, no!” Joanna screamed in terror, desperately trying to pull away, but the bodyguard’s grip was too firm. She could only watch helplessly as the knife descended. 

“Yes!” she cried desperately, squeezing her eyes shut. 

“I worked part–time at the Riverside Club because they offered good money.” 

“Tell us everything,” Jacob demanded. “How did you get there? Who contacted you? What did they make you do? Where did you go afterward?” 

Joanna burst into tears. 

“That was years ago! How do you expect me to remember everything?” 

Jacob dropped a key name. “Here’s a reminder. Sarah. She told you to spike someone’s drink.”

“After I got the job, my cousin Sarah reached out to me,” she stammered. “She offered me a million dollars to do one thing. I was desperate for money, so I agreed. Someone gave me the stuff, and I put it in the drink she specified. She told me to serve it to him and ensure he drank it. I watched him drink it, text her to confirm, and leave. She paid me one million dollars, and I left the country.” 

Joanna spilled every detail of Sarah’s instructions and began pleading, “Please, please don’t cut off my hands. I was out of my mind when I did it. I just saw the money and couldn’t think straight. Please, let me go.” 

She thought that no one would bring up what happened after five years. But since her return, she’d been watched by these terrifying people. She would have never dared to do it if she had known how scary they were, not even if her life depended on it! 

Sebastian looked at her with disappointment written all over his face. “How could you do something like this? Don’t you realize that your moment of madness pushed my sister into a living hell?”
