At the time, Ivy had told the household staff Clara found it inconvenient to stay with Wren, and that was why the latter had voluntarily given up the room for Ivy.

But now, hearing Martha's words, the staff began questioning the story. They wondered if Ivy couldn't tolerate Clara and had purposely pushed her out.

"Mrs. Zachman Senior, I think you've misunderstood." Ivy forced a smile through gritted teeth. "Who told you such things? How could I steal from Clara?

"This room swap was her idea. She said that since I was about to get engaged to Wren, she willingly gave it to me. I'm not lying. If you don't believe me, ask Wren when he comes back."

Martha scoffed. "Don't try to sow discord in front of me. I don't need anyone else's words. I have eyes! Even if Clara gave you the room, do you really think you're worthy of it?"

"I've already asked the household staff," she continued sharply. "You're the one who ordered them to toss Clara's things into that tiny storage room downstairs. How could you be so heartless?"

Ivy nearly choked. She didn't know how to respond.

How could she admit that the tiny room was the one Clara had chosen herself? Who would believe that?

There were plenty of rooms in this large villa, and any of them would have been far better than that cramped space downstairs. Only someone with an issue would willingly choose such a tiny room.

Ivy regretted it now. Back then, she just wanted to humiliate Clara and push her out of the Zachman residence, never imagining it would lead to this.
