“You were the one who told me Mr. Zachman most likely went to find Ms. Salford. Since Mr. Zachman doesn’t want anyone to know his whereabouts, naturally, he’d want to erase any trace of Ms. Salford. That’s the only way his location won’t be exposed. 

Ivy could easily deduce this herself, but she didn’t have the patience to listen to sach explanations, 

Imitated, she snapped, “I don’t care about all that. Since you’ve taken my money, just get the job done. If you fail to find anything again, don’t blame me for being ruthless!” 

Ms. Jones, we need more time 

“I’m giving you one week at most. If you still come up empty, be prepared to refund me!” She mercilessly cut the man off mid–sentence and hung up the phone without hesitation. 

She walked over to the bed, threw her phone aside, and picked up a stuffed animal from her bedside table. Imagining Clara’s face on it, she vented her frustration 

aggressively 

Just then, she heard the sound of the door lock turning. 

Ivy turned around and saw Shirley pushing the door open from outside. 

“I could hear you losing your temper all the way from the hallway. Haven’t I told you to stay composed no matter what you’re doing? You’re speaking so loudly. Aren’t you afraid someone might overhear? 

Shirley closed the door behind her and locked it, walking over to Ivy with a stem look “Don’t forget that old woman is still here. If she hears you, do you think you’ll still have a place in the Zachman family?” 

Ivy clutched the fur on the stuffed animal, a contemptuous laugh escaping her lips. “What does it matter if she hears? If she had the power to kick us out, she would’ve done it already. She’s old now. If she really falls out with Mr. Zachman, who will take care of her in the future?” 

Shirly frowned disapprovingly. “Don’t spout nonsense. No matter what, Martha is still Mr. Zachman’s biological mother. Keep these thoughts to yourself and never let them leave your lips again.“. 

Ivy snorted coldly, clearly unconcerned with Shirley’s admonition. 

She used to fear Martha a great deal, but ever since the old woman had tried to expel her and her mother only to relent after a few words from Carlisle, Ivy realized There wasn’t much to fear 

As long as Carlisle still cared for Shirley, no one could force them to leave.
