Scarlett POV

I silently waited for Gabriel to pick me up, reminding myself to not lead him on. My body may want him, but I don't. All it is now is lust, not the fiery love that I want. And I know he only wants me for my body, nothing else. He made that clear earlier today, he wants Melody as a wife. I flirted with the thought of cutting him out completely or deal with him lusting after me like some pest. He's my boss though, if I were to make our relationship anything but friendly, work would be hell. If he even left me my job.

I snapped my head up when his car pulled up. I quickly hopped into the passenger seat, flashing him a small smile. He smiled back before kissing me on the cheek, surprising me and causing nausea to build in my stomach.

"So, how was your afternoon?" He asked.

I shrugged, "The usual, working and taking a nap when I get home."

"Wow, your life sounds busy," he chuckled.

"Well, when you have an asshole CEO, things tend be quite tiring."

"Oh, really? I think you should slap this CEO."

I smirked, "Where? I'll gladly slap him across the cheek."

"Mmmmm...Anywhere," he winked, causing me to almost gag.

"So, where are we heading?"

"Your favorite place by the beach."

A grin immediately spread across my face, "You didn't."

"I did."

"So...how did you meet Melody?" I asked, genuinely curious.

He smiled, "I ran into her at a café, literally. I bought her a new coffee after spilling hers on her and we just...ended up talking. Over the weeks, we talked and went on a few dates until I asked her to be my girlfriend."

"Sounds lovely."

I sighed, "You had hurt her, Gabriel. Maybe, being single is a good choice...for you."

"And for you?"

"I'm still single, aren't I? Clearly, a boyfriend isn't a good idea."

"Even if your boyfriend was your ex-husband?"

I sighed, "Yes, even if my boyfriend was you. I need to get my life sorted out first."

He nodded silently, but I could tell he was upset. I didn't care though, he can't expect me to just date him after how he has treated me. He made me feel horrible and not only that, but tried getting with me while dating Melody. He hated me for cheating, yet, here he is doing the same thing. Well, not at the moment, he isn't. But who knows, he could have another woman that Melody and I don't even know about.

The rest of dinner had gone by quite peacefully, despite the fact he was pouting the whole time. Once he dropped me off at my apartment building, I thanked him. I then quickly hopped out, not wanting to suffocate in the awkward silence anymore.

I can already tell work is going to be fun for now on. Note the sarcasm.
