But Jeremy had directly turned off his phone. The moment Melody heard the busy tone, her heartbeat seemed to stop for a moment, and her mind went completely blank.

Seth noticed the change in Melody's expression and quickly pieced things together in his mind.

He knew Jeremy fairly well. Just by seeing Melody like this, he could guess that she had probably contacted Jeremy at first, but he hadn't come.

He was about to try and comfort her when the door to the office was pushed open.

"Dr. Seth, Mr. Wardolf from Regallo Group is here."

As soon as the other party finished speaking, Denvin appeared at the door.

Melody froze for a moment when she saw him.

Denvin furrowed his brows, his gaze darkening as he looked at Melody. "Why are you here?"

"I..." Melody was about to explain, but Seth beat her to it.

"Ms. Wardolf's ear had some issues, and I happened to run into her. I brought her here for a check-up." Seth smiled at Denvin. "Mr. Wardolf, since you want to work with our hospital for research and development, we've got a perfect test subject here, don't we?"

Denvin didn't even hesitate before flatly refusing, "That's not going to happen."

Seth paused for a moment then regretfully said, "That's a shame. But I was just suggesting it."

Melody didn't understand what they were talking about. "What are you guys talking about?"

Seth didn't hide it from her and openly said, "Mr. Wardolf has invested in a project related to hearing impairments. It's an advanced foreign technology that can help patients hear again, though it's still in the experimental stage."

For a brief moment, a hint of discomfort flashed across Denvin's handsome face, but it was quickly replaced by a neutral expression. Standing nearly six feet three inches, his presence was imposing, and he had an air of distance and authority.

Denvin lowered his gaze at Melody. His deep and magnetic voice was tinged with an air of superiority as he said, "Regallo Group invested in this project because it will soon face an aging population. In the future, the elderly will become the main consumer group. So, I'm just planning ahead."

Melody's voice was soft. "I understand." She didn't think that he'd invested in this project for her anyway.

Just then, a dark shadow passed through Denvin's black eyes. After a moment, he said in a low voice, "Stay here and wait for me. I'll take you home later."
