"Your indifference and your favoritism toward Krystal told me your wish for us to break up," Melody answered.

Though she was trying her best to rein in her emotions, she eventually failed to do so as she had endured too much of Jeremy's indifference.

However, the words had barely left her mouth when her face was tilted up.

Jeremy's dark eyes met hers directly and unflinchingly. He bit out in a low voice, "I never wanted you to break up with me."

The way he behaved had been based on his own principles, and he hadn't favored Krystal either. He merely chose the side that he believed was more in the right.

Melody inhaled a deep breath. "That's what your actions and your behavior told me, though."

She dug her fingernails into her palm to keep her voice steady. Her voice would choke up when she felt an ache in her heart.

When Jeremy saw her like this, it felt like his chest constricted inexplicably as well. However, he didn't know how to explain himself.

He hadn't done anything wrong, so he wasn't going to apologize to Melody.

Though Harold had told him that there were times that he just needed to compromise, he just couldn't bring himself to apologize for something he hadn't done.

Melody didn't want to drag this on any longer, so she got straight to the point. "You helped me contact a lawyer, and you're sending me to and from work. What are you trying to do, Jeremy? Can't you just be honest?"

She didn't want to guess anymore, as it was too exhausting.

Jeremy froze at her question. He had never once thought about what his intentions were.
