Chapter 45 

Tittany gave Melody a sympathetic look after Krystal left. She said, “Mel, hang in there. The ICU just filled up with critical patients yesterday.” Most nurses didn’t like working in the ICU. Besides handling basic medical care, they had to manage every aspect of a patient’s daily needs too, 

Tillany muttered, “She was just against you staying here at noon, and now she’s sending you straight to the ICU? 

“I wouldn’t believe it for a second if she says she’s not targeting you.” 

However, Melody had no complaints. She had worked in the ICU before, through buster and tougher times. 

“10’s fine. It’vall the same,” she finally replied. 

Given her current situation, staying in the hospital meant she had to work even harder to prove herself. It would be impossible to win people over if she wasn’t serious about her work 

Upon seeing that Melody wasn’t bothered by II, Tiffany dropped the tople 

That afternoon, Melody informed the head nurse and headed straight to the EU to report in 

Melody was easy going and never turned down requests for help, which had earned her a good reputation among the staff. Otherwise, the department wouldn’t have voted in favor of her staying earlier that day. 

Jeremy wasn’t responsible for the 1932, so she didn’t see him at all that afternoon. However, Harold had come by a few times, though he only had time for a brief word before rushing off again. 

He told Melody not to worry and that they’d find a way to resolve the situation with Tessa. He still felt guilty for dragging her into this mess. 

Just before the shift change, an elderly patient’s condition suddenly deteriorated, and it threw the entire ICU into chaos 

The patient had lost control of their bladder and bowels due to their illness, and during the episode, the situation became even messier. 

Melody was the closest to the patient and ended up in the worst state. 

After a while, one of the incoming nurses took over the TV work from bee and urged her to step away. 

By the time Melody made it back to the nurse’s station, Tittany had just finished her shift. 

Upon seeing Melody’s condition, Tiffany gasped. “Go clean up right now and change into fresh clothes. This is way too much.” 

Melody was already feeling uncomfortable herself, she gave a quick nod, grabbed the break room key from Tiffany, and headed for the restroom. 

However, she almost bumped into someone as she turned around. 

It was one of the doctors retuming from their attemoon rounds. 

Caleb took one look at her and plaggentedly exclaimed, “Ms. Wardolf, did you just come back from a battle?” 

Melody explained, “A patient in the 100 had a sudden episode, and it wasn’t a pretty sight.” 

Caleb nodded. “Well, hurry up and wash up. The smell is quite strong.” 

“I’m on my way,” Melody replied. 

But just as she turned to leave, Jeremy’s volce rang out, “Take care of that wound on your hand. Don’t let it get infected.” 

Melody froze for a second and instinctively looked down at her hund 

While trying to ease the patient’s convulsions earlier, the patient had accidentally scratched the back of her hand with an IV needle. Though It wasn’t deep, it still stung. 

Melodyhadn’t expected Jenemy to notice. 

She lifted her gaze to him, lips pressed together and eyes shining faintly. “Alright.” 

But at the next moment, his voice turned indifferent as he said, “Don’t forget the professional appearance standards for medical staff.” 

Melody was momentarily stunned, but she still answered, “I haven’t forgotten. I just stepped out and was about to clean up……“ 

“How many patients and family members have walked past in the few minutes you’ve been stailing here?” Jeremy’s expression was calm, yet his brown corsed
