Chapter 86

Denvin had always made it his mission to get Melody to leave the Wardolf family

She wasn’t an eloquent speakri. So, she had no idea how to respond to him. The only thing she could do was to pretend as if she hadn’t heard him

Denyin stared at her. Those around him had always commented that he was reckless and morally ambiguous when running his business

He had a sense of unnliness about him. To begin with, he already had sharp, striking features. His cheekbones were deep, and his demeanor was so intense that people didn’t dare to look him in the eyes

Devin’s gaze was fixed on Melody. Something popped into his mind, and he suddenly chuckled. Then, he said casually, You won’t be able to marry Jeremy.”

Melody raised her head and met his mocking gaze. An inexplicable emotion rose in her chest, but she couldn’t retort to Devin’s words

Andrew and Laura didn’t come downstairs until halt an hour later

He glanced at Melody, saying, Jeremy and Krys can’t come home tonight. It’s just the four of us. So, we won’t be having a huge dinner. Is that alright for you, Me??

Melody didn’t have the right to be picky, so she responded meekly, Anything is fine by me.”

Laura glanced at her and asked indifferently, Not putting makeup on tonight, are we

I had makeup on last time because I had a photography session,Melody explained softly

time. You’ll just waste them.”

You look cheap and tacky, to begin with. Using makeup just makes it worse. Don’t even bother with it

Melody grew up listening to these undermining remarks. She lowered her gaze and told herself not to be offended by them

When they were all seated at the dining table, Andrew did not beat around the bush, questioning, I’m aware that Tessa’s case was resolved. Why did I hear that Ophelia gave you a helping hand?”

Melody responded truthfully, She helped me investigate Rosario.”

Andrew immediately looked imitated. Mel, you shouldn’t have done that. Ophelia is fond of you. That’s for sure, but you can’t accept her goodwill. People will thank that you’re trying to get something from her.”

Melody tightened her grip on the fork in her hand. Then, she explained meekly, If I don’t get to the bottom of Tessa’s case, I’ll bear the false accusation for the rest of my life.”

MelHe put his cutlery down and looked at her emotionlessly. The loving and caring look he usually had was all but gone now

In fact, he sounded rather menacing. We aren’t the same as the Chesson family. When you asked Ophelia for a favor, you were using our family’s name. You’re a Wardolf, which means we need to repay the favor you owed Ophelia

usatory voice was the only sound at the dining table

Sure, she might have helped you, but do you think it’s acceptable? Andrew’s accusatory

Melody sat upright, but she kept her head lowered and didn’t dare to look him in the eye

This was why Andrew had been reluctant to allow her to have much interaction with those in his social circle. He suspected that she would use the Wardolt family’s naine to get something done, but the truth was, he didn’t want to be her safety net

Denvinnered. His voice was cold, indifferent, and mocking when he spoke up. You ran into some issues, yet you don’t have the mental capacity to look for your family’s help. Instead, you sought help from an outsider. Melody Wardolt, you are really something.”

He raised his chin and looked at her condescendingly. Do you consider yourself Jeremy’s wife already?”
