Skyler turned around to face Willow, staring at her intensely. “Lolo, why would you do this? If you failed to sleep with Matthew, that’s on you. Why drag me into it and make me the scapegoat?”

Alexis was an upright girl, so she was visibly displeased to hear Skyler twisting the truth. “Ms. Dawson, what do you mean by that? You gave me that glass of red wine to deliver to Mr. Mayer, telling me it was from Ms, Sanford.

“You were my idol. I liked you and naively thought you were as righteous, passionate, and kind as your public persona. So, I believed you genuinely wanted to help Ms. Sanford reconnect with an old friend by sending that wine.

“But I didn’t realize you had spiked the drink. You had me deliver it to hurt Ms. Sanford!

“Ms. Dawson, I’m so disappointed in you! I will never admire you again! From today on, I’m no longer a fan! I am your number one anti–fan!”

Alexis defiantly pulled out a wad of cash and flung it at Skyler. “I don’t want this dirty money!”

Skyler was stunned by the blow. Her perfectly made–up face turned ashen and utterly unsightly.

But Skyler recomposed herself swiftly. She calmly spoke, “Alexis, right? I have no grudge against you. Why would you frame me like this? I’ve never met you tonight, so how could I have paid you to do anything for me?”

“Alexis, I can’t believe you’re doing this,” she said.

Skyler turned to Willow, her eyes filled with tears. “Lolo, I know Alexis is someone you brought in to hurt me. Lolo, I don’t blame you, I really don’t. 1 only request that you never do this to me again, okay? After all, you’re like my sister.”

Skyler weakly fell into Zayn’s arms. “Zayn, don’t blame Lolo, okay? I know she did this because she hates that you chose to save me over Aaron. I had been pregnant before, I know how painful it is to lose a child. I understand Lolo’s pain. So, Zayn, please forgive Lola,”

No matter how malicious her actions were, Skyler had a knack for shifting the blame.
