“Even if I marry Skyler, Willow will always be my mistress,” Zayn said.

“Mr. Carter, shut up!” Kenan swung an unceremonious punch which Zayn deftly dodged.

“Willow divorced you long ago! There’s nothing between you now!”

“Nothing?” Zayn’s voice was sinister. Willow kept telling herself not to care about Zayn, but he always hurt her deeply.

Both Matthew and Kenan were her closest friends. One a friend she once depended on for survival. The other, a confidant she considered family. She didn’t want them to know about her dark, sordid past. But Zayn refused to respect her wishes.

Indeed, upon hearing Zayn’s words, Kenan couldn’t contain his shock. “Mr. Carter, what are you saying?”

Zayn’s eyes bore into Willow’s face with an intensity that made her uncomfortable.

“Willow!”

Kenan, brandishing his fists, lunged at Zayn’s face in a frenzy.

Willow despised how Zayn trampled on her dignity, but she couldn’t deny the truth in his words. She did sign that shameful contract, sealing her fate.

Seeing everyone leave, Alexis didn’t want to stay either. She gave Willow a worried look before quietly exiting
