Chapter 96
Willow knew Aaron couldn’t survive his fall from the cliff. Knowing it was one thing, but being informed of his death was entirely different. She felt like her heart had been fractured into pieces.
“I said…” Skyler recalled how devastated Zayn looked when she arrived at the bottom of the cliff in a helicopter. His eyes were bloodshot red, and he seemed utterly lost.
The resentment in her tone grew as she continued, “I said Aaron’s dead! He was eaten alive by the beasts below the cliff. You won’t even see his intact body anymore!
“Look, the fabric is stained with his blood. He’s not coming back–he never will!
“Willow, it must have been unbearable to be devoured by the beasts. Would it hurt for Aaron if he was still alive when the beasts devoured him slowly?
“Was it one beast that gobbled him up, or was it a pack of them? Did they start with his hand or his leg? Or did they bite his head off instantly?
“Argh!” Willow could no longer bear it. She grabbed a glass from the table next to her and hurled it at Skyler. “Get out of my sight!”
The glass didn’t hit her. It fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.
Willow was overwhelmed with grief. She clutched the box tightly. Mustering up all her strength, she grabbed the few shreds of blood–stained fabric. She felt like Aaron’s warmth still lingered on the fabric.
