Now I understood a bit of Cyrus’ anger. I’d been a bit puzzled when he just went off on him as soon as he locked eyes on him but now, it made more sense.
Froste must have had some prior contact with Cyrus before I came back to my real home. It was no doubt the reason why Cyrus’ countenance had changed in the blink of an eye. It wasn’t like he was ever fond of him.
When it came to showing their disdain towards Froste, Cyrus and Olavir never held back and had no qualms about giving him a piece of their mind.
Olavir had witnessed my injury first hand. For Cyrus, it was most likely because he was overwhelmed by the guilt that seemed to be eating him up. That was probably why he took his anger out on Froste
Without realizing, a sigh left my lips. I had more thing to worry about and Froste wasn’t the least of them. There was still the curse that we were racing against time to find and questioning Froste wouldn’t do anything to help us or even speed up the possibility of our success.
A part of me wanted to jump in and say something about it but even then, what was I meant to say?
Without realizing, a sigh left my lips. I had never felt sad about my brothers being late in finding me. I stepped forward to comfort Cyrus but something made me stop before I could move a muscle.
He was way over there, out of my reach and too far away for me to have been able to hear his conversation with Froste.
It didn’t make sense at all.
"Cyrus?" The words left my lips before I even realized it.
Cyrus turned to me, his expression softening jus the tiniest bit. He sent Froste one last glare before making his way towards me.
"Sorry for taking so long, sis." He smiled at me.
"Oh…it’s alright." I tried to smile as well.
Froste made his way back to us as well, an unreadable expression on his face. A part of me wanted to ask about his wellbeing, how he was doing and feeling.
But I held back. The line had been drawn a long time ago and I had no intention of crossing it.
"We can go see Arthur now. I’m sure he’s in his quarters." Froste suggested.
Cyrus grunted and turned to me. I sent him a nod of affirmation. With that, we made our way deeper into the school building and headed straight for Arthur’s quarters.
"Yes, we actually have an important reason for coming here." I replied.
He let out a hum, his eyes lingering on me as he silently studied me for a while. After a moment, he let out a sigh.
"Well let’s hear it then." He gestured with his hand.
I stepped forward and began to recount everything we’d just realized. I also explained to him how I’d managed to overhear Cyrus’ conversation even though I was far away from him.
It wasn’t hard to miss how he stiffened as I glazed through that part but I didn’t stop with what I was saying. Through all this, Arthur afforded me his keenest attention, making sure to listen carefully to what I had to say.
"I don’t know what this could mean." I finally said, letting out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding.
Arthur’s eyes glistened with something along the lines of excitement. It was a stark contrast to the grumpiness that had been on his face when we first got here.
"I can’t believe it," he said, more to himself than me. "If we take all this into consideration, then there’s absolutely no doubt left about it."
