I ended the call immediately. My hands fell to my side as the silence ensued. I gasped when my body was suddenly filled with pain.
It was the same pain that had been healed by the moon potion. How was it back now? My hand went to my chest as I struggled to understand what was happening. A thought entered my mind and dread crept up my spine.
“Was this my wolf being sad?”
The sun peeked through the curtains, some rays falling on my face. A muffled moan left my lips as I blinked away the sleep from my eyes.
I was still in my room. None of it had been a dream. All of it had been very real and very true. I slowly rose my head and sat up. This room was massive, nothing like my former room at Galaxy Pack. This was something I would have to get used to.
I was a princess of the Luciano family. I had to act like it.
Suddenly, the door slid open and a line of maids filtered into the room. They all stood before me and bowed their head.
“Good morning, princess.” They greeted in unison.
“Good morning.” I replied, still a bit surprised.
One of the maids stepped forward. “We’re here to help you wash up and get changed.”
She turned to her counterparts and nodded. With that, the maids all dispersed to different parts of the room and began to carry out one task or the other in getting ready my bath
I got over my shock pretty quickly. “There’s no need for that. I can do it myself, thank you.”
The maid looked stunned. “Are you sure, princess? It’s our job to do that.”
“I think I can wash up myself.” I laughed a little, throwing the blankets off me.
She eventually nodded, and motioned to all the other maids. They all bowed once more and made their way out of the room.
I stared at the door for a long time after they’d left before shaking my head. This was something I would never get used to.
With a sigh, I made my way to the large bathroom. An array of bathing products had been laid out for me to use. Judging by the brands, I could tell they must be really expensive.
Shutting the door, I stepped into the bathtub and washed myself up. When I was done, I made my way into my room and picked out a gown from the clothes that had been gotten for me. I applied some makeup, checking myself in the mirror.
When I deemed myself ready, I stepped out of the cottage. There was a group of maids already standing outside the door.
Halven growled at him but he didn’t say anything else.
“Maybe she thinks the gifts are nothing.” Halven reasoned again.
“It won’t be a stretch to assume that.” Olavir shrugged.
Merhold hummed in thought. “I wonder if she’ll like the castle I gave her.”
My jaw dropped. Castle? Merhold had given me a castle? A whole castle? I thought back to yesterday, when I’d tried to open Merhold’s gift and Olavir had stopped me. So that was what he meant.
Now I understand why he made me wait. It was simply too valuable. I guess I’d eavesdropped on them long enough.
Letting out a sigh, I made my way into the room. They all turned to me as soon as I entered the room.
Merhold frowned. “Why are you alone?”
I barely got a chance to reply when Olavir spoke up. “Are the maids treating you badly?”
