Zeya grabbed my hand, her grip tight showing she was trying to hurt me. My hands tightened into fists. If it came to it, I’d leave a scar or two on their faces.

“What the hell is going on here?”

I never thought I’d be glad to hear that voice. Froste pushed his way through the crowd of reporters. His tall and imposing form demanded the attention of everyone in the room.

Froste had always been handsome. But now, he seemed unreal. His jaw looked like it had been chiselled by a sculptor. His dark curls contrasted well against high cheekbones.

He looked at Jake, then at the two women before turning to me. Our gazes remained like that for a while before he turned back to the sisters.

“You have two minutes to explain why you’re harassing her before I lose my temper.”

Zeya and Loraine looked stunned when they set sights on Froste. He was by no means an unattractive man so it was no surprised that they looked so dumbfounded.

No doubt, they’d probably never seen someone this attractive since spending most of their lives at the country side.

Zeya was the first to speak. “Thank you coming to help us sir.”

“Yes, thank you.” Loraine chipped in, fluttering her eyelashes in some desperate bid to seem seductive.

Froste looked more surprised by what they were doing than when he’d walked in. Zeya threw herself before him.

“We’ve heard about the kind of man you are.”

“Yes, we have,” Loraine added. “Kind, rich, and a man of every woman’s desires.”

I felt my anger rising with each passing second. How shameless could they possibly be? They’d been throwing insults at me and now they were ingratiating themselves to Froste. No doubt they probably thought they could get some money out of him by doing this.

Just how stupid were they?

“Who are you?” Froste asked, his eyes unreadable as he watched them.

Froste was watching them with an unreadable expression on his face. Then he turned to me. I could understand the question burning behind his eyes without him even saying a word.

My gaze moved to the reporters who were still eagerly listening to everything they were saying. It didn’t matter if it was true or not. To them, a juicy story would always be what they were after.

I turned to Zeya, unable to hold back my anger. “I will make you pay for this. How dare you come here and try to spread rumours about me?”

“Give me a break,” Zeya scoffed. “We all know what narrative everyone would believe.”

“You’re nothing but a fake pretender, playing at being an aristocrat when we all know you’re just a country bumpkin.” Loraine laughed.

“That’s enough from the two of you!”

Froste’s voice cut through their accusations and got them to stop. He glared at the two of them, not bothering to hide his disdain for them.

“Giselle is and has always been the master of all her money. It doesn’t matter how she chooses to spend it. And it sure as well is none of your business what she spends her money on.”
