Froste was watching everything silently. A part of me wondered what he could possibly be thinking but I pushed that thought away.

None of that mattered anymore. I didn’t matter to him, and he didn’t matter to me.

“I’ll take you home, Giselle.” Haelor said, casting one final glance at Froste.

I didn’t try to argue with him on this one. I was already exhausted from the days’ events and I wanted nothing more than to get some time to myself.

I sent him a nod and let him lead me to the car that was already waiting outside for us. Haelor opened the door for me and I got in.

He took the spot next to me and gestured for the driver to start moving. The drive back home was pretty calming if not for the thoughts raging in my head.

Agnrs had gone to a length I never thought would be possible. And she did that all because she suspected there was something between me and Froste.

It was low. Especially for someone of her social standing. She had tried to play dirty. I shivered at the thought of my brothers’ reactions to this. No doubt, they definitely would not take it so lightly.

“By the way,” Haelor started to speak.

I turned just in time to see him hand me something. I took it from him, examining it in my hands. It looked like a whistle.

“A whistle?” I turned to him.

He nodded. “Not just any whistle. It’s a special kind. You’d rarely ever see this any other place or with any other person.”

“Really?” I stared in awe at the whistle, unable to believe what my eyes were seeing.

“Yes,” he smiled, “It’s a whistle that emits a unique frequency only my steel squad members can hear.”

“What’s so special about them that they can hear the whistle?” I asked, unable to hide my curiosity.

“They’re elite special force soldiers who report directly to me. Now, I’m going to be assigning them to you.” He explained.

I sat in awe of what he’d just said. He was really thinking of assigning such an important task force to me.

“I—I don’t understand. Why give me something like this?”

No doubt, they were probably furious about the scene I might have caused by exposing Agnrs today.

I’d already mentally prepared for whatever scolding they wanted to give me. I would accept all of it with stride.

I waited for it to come but it never did. Instead, Olavir’s face was cool and calm. He didn’t look like he’d blow up at me for any reason. Cyrus had a similar look on his face.

He looked far too calm for someone who might have heard about what happened. Not to mention he was an important figure at the Royal Academy. I continued waiting for them to lash out on me or maybe scold me for what I did.

“I can’t believe I wasn’t even there to stand by my sister.” Olavir shook his head, a look of anger written on his face.

“I’ve always disliked that woman since my days at the Royal Academy.” Cyrus chimed in. “I should have known she was nothing but a slimy snake.”

“And you’re absolutely valid for that!” Olavir huffed.

I couldn’t help the feeling of warmth blooming in my chest. Here I’d thought that maybe they’d be upset with me for starting something with Agnrs.

Instead, they were here supporting me and letting me know that I wasn’t alone in all of this. So this was what it truly meant to be loved.
