I’d always thought that I’d have to go through life alone. I’d forced myself to accept the fact that I might forever have to stand up for myself in the face of all adversaries I might face.

But they’d showed me that something else was in store for me. And they’d made it pretty clear that they would stand by me no matter what.

“Thank you.” I mumbled, my voice barely audible.

The way their gazes flickered to me let me know that they heard. Olavir had a small smile on his face.

As good as it felt to have them throw their support behind me, I’d also just realize the situation on ground.

“Um…guys,” I looked at them.

Cyrus frowned. “What’s the matter?”

“I don’t have a job anymore.” I admitted, the words still sounding strange to my ears.

I’d managed to get a job and it seemed I already blew it up. This didn’t make me feel better one bit. It seemed to add more to my misery.

“You don’t have to worry about that.” Haelor’s voice broke through the silence.

“I don’t?”

He shook his head. “I can accompany you over the next few days to look for a new position.”

I hummed, letting his words sink in. I’d have to find a new job sooner or later. I didn’t plan on staying idle like that, neither had the thought ever occurred to me to do so.

“Sounds like a plan.” I smiled.

Later that night, I’d settled to eating my dinner in silence while my brothers recounted everything that had happened.

Olavir seemed the most enthusiastic about recounting everything. He explained it in such an animated way that I couldn’t hold back my laughter at some point.

“I think we should teach her a lesson.” He said after he’d finished, putting a forkful of sautéed shrimp into his mouth.

“I still can’t believe you actually slapped her.” Merhold chuckled.

“Oh please,” Greyven rolled his eyes. “It’s just a slap to Agnrs. Olavir was just exaggerating it to make it seem like it’s some big deal.”

He helped me out of the car and we made our way into the building. From my research, the primary business of the start-up was selling properties for a massive real estate group.

“Are you ready?” Haelor’s voice was low as we entered the reception. The receptionist sent him a small bow which he responded to with a curt nod.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.”

He gave my shoulder a light squeeze. “All the best, princess.”

Hearing him say that sent a warm feeling down my chest. I didn’t think I’d ever get used to being called that.

I asked for some directions from an employee I saw and finally made it to the interview room. All eyes were on me as soon as I walked through the door.

I swallowed in a breath and made my way further into the room. Seated before a large table was a small group of people comprising of both men and women.

“Hello, I’m Giselle. I’m here for the interview.” I said, a small smile on my face.

“Thank you for applying here.” One of the women smiled. “We look forward to getting to know you better.”
