Arthur seemed to ponder on my words for a while before speaking again. “Then did you do it to marry a noble Alpha and become Luna of the pack?”
I shook my head. “I used to be a Pack Luna but I rejected that status.”
“Why?” he asked.
My mind drifted to the time I’d stood with all the pack members staring at me in disbelief and disdain. They’d all believed I was guilty without even bothering to ask me about my own side.
“It’s something personal.” I finally said.
He seemed to understand that quite well. There was a look of satisfaction as he continued to observe me. I still remembered Cyrus’s words about the Elder being able to see into people’s souls.
He’d know if I was lying and I doubt he’d have wanted to keep me as his student if he realized I had lied to his face.
“Okay then. I’d like to hear your true reason for wanting to become my student.” He said, his eyes holding a certain eagerness that made me shift where I stood.
I thought back to those years I had faced incredibly discrimination from different people alike. I’d gone through so much back then.
Now it seemed things were finally for the better. I’d gotten a chance at the top school and it looked like things were turning for the better.
I let out a breath. “I came here to find my wolf?”
Arthur looked really interested now. “Your wolf?”
I nodded, “I’d faced a lot of discrimination for years all because I didn’t have one. Just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable.”
“I believe it’s really admirable of you to come here in search of your wolf.” He said with a nod of his head.
I hummed absentmindedly. There was another thought that had been eating at me. I didn’t know if it was something I could ask but it wasn’t like I had another choice.
The only person who could help me was Arthur and it was better I laid out my problems bare to him now.
Better late than never.
“I’m worried I might not even have a wolf.” I finally said, the words seemingly reverberating as they left my lips.
Now that I’d said it, it seemed to have a more profound effect than when I just thought about it. Arthur was silently watching me, his sharp eyes making me want to squirm under his gaze. I forced myself to stay put.
This wasn’t the time to do that. I had to put on a strong front regardless of how I felt about the whole thing.
The dark red wolf behind Arthur began to growl. My first instinct was to step back. Arthur turned to the wolf and patted it gently.
From the shirt, you could see the outline of his muscles. He was definitely toned. I wondered who was stronger between him and Froste, Haelor and the rest.
Haelor struck me as someone of tremendous strength but I couldn’t help but wonder how he’d fare against
“Thank you, Teacher.” I bowed my head once more.
He responded with a nod, the smile still evident on his face. Arthur clapped his hand, his smile growing further.
“Now that we’ve settled that, how about I show you around?” He asked.
I could see the glint of eagerness in his eyes. I nodded my head, equally interested in what he wanted to say.
“Of course,” I said to him, “I’d love to see the whole place.”
“Alright then, Giselle. Follow me.” He smiled, gesturing for me to head after him
Just as we left the door of the house, I came face to face with the last person I wanted to see.
